Flynn and the Dragons

Flynn and the Dragons, originally uploaded by Knitterista.

There was a Chinese New Year celebration last weekend and we just had to go by...I felt like this would be a blessing taking Flynn to the celebration since he is being born in the year of the Golden Pig ..extra good luck! The Golden Pig comes every 600 years and it is a huge deal in the culture. There's like a baby boom going on in China and women are lining up in the hospitals to have their babies in this year.

The celebration was a lot of fun...my first time to experience anything like it. I've always wanted to go to China Town in NYC or SanFran to see their parties...this was a mini one. They had these towers of firecrackers that went off and a jolly masked man led the dragons through the event and the Vietnamese grocery store, which was funny. They also had a highschool aged group that was leading with drums. It was very loud and crazy. I wondered if Flynn could hear it...well, of course he did...it was crazy! We got a gold piggy bank to put funds in for good fortune. It's an ugly little thing, but it will tell him the story and hopefully help us and him to save special money in the pig to take care of his future.

(NOTE: I'm wearing Le Slouch that I knitted a while ago...cute hat pattern)

Belly Profile

23 weeks along - this really shows how big I'm getting (top and bottom). I love this dress from Motherhood Maternity...totally recommend them for maternity clothing. They are really inexpensive and not badly made. I'll wear this polka dot dress all summer I'm sure. I've gotten darling jeans and other daily wear from them...very cute!

vertical shot...this is kind of a gross angle, but I thought it was funny...I'm gigantic.

Donut Heaven

My coworker made me pose for this one. She turned around to ask me a question and busted laughing. It was a typical prenant chick senario...a box of donuts in front of me with powdered suger all over my face...luckily no jelly squeezed down the front of my belly. It was pretty hysterical...and yes I ate 5 donuts that day...as I'm finishing at this moment a bag of Dolly Madison baby powdered donuts. I love those and right now at this stage I totally crave them. That's just how it is. I'll have a extra vegetable tonight to balance it all out.

Crib decision

sheffield crib, originally uploaded by Knitterista.

I took my baby's daddy to the crib store this weekend. It was actually a fun occassion. The BabiesRUs excursion was more stressful for me...ick. We decided on the Bonavita Sheffield crib and changing table. We're gonna order it today. I can't wait to get the room done and have a place for all of Flynn's things. We are doing a dark rustic cherry stain (not pictured). This set is super sturdy. We figured he will use this through his early teen years, cause it's a convertible bed, and it will take a lot of abuse, so it was better to get something super solid. I think the dark color will look good with his room colors. Photos to come when it's all set up. Now I can check that off my list.

BELLY NEWS

Belly 0207 side view, originally uploaded by Knitterista.

Flynnie has been kicking for a couple of weeks now...not too annoying, but at times it makes me feel a little funny and nausious. I put my ipod earphone in my belly button yesterday and played music for a little while...he immediately started acting up. Who knows if he likes it or not, but I like feeling him move around.

I'm getting pretty big. JD measured me last night and my belly is 41 inches round...yikes. My belly button is stretching out more and will soon be popping out I'm sure.

These shots are from the first of the month (kinda hard to take my own belly photo these days and get the whole thing in the shot!). He's grown a lot since and they say he should be at least a foot long by now. I can't wear these jeans anymore as of last week. The button is cutting into my waist. I even tried to hook up a rubber band to expand it some, but I'm getting way to robust. I love the Old Navy maternity tank I'm wearing...highly recommended. It's fun though. More people are starting to touch my tummy. I kinda like it, as long as they are friends. It just shows their excitement to me. I especially love it when JD does it in front of people to show me off...he's so cute. More soon.

STITCH N BITCH

Dionne-quints-knitting, originally uploaded by Knitterista.

It's Stitch n Bitch night...most of the gang will be there...getting back to normal when everyone wants to get out and enjoy the weather. It's been in the 70's this week and of course was snowing last week...whatever.

I plan on starting on a hat for Flynn tonight. I finished a scrap scarf last week and need to hide the joins and I'm done with that and will post.

CRANKY PANTS

Cranky Pants, originally uploaded by Knitterista.

My first baby knitting project is going to be a simple little hat, but to match I'm making some pants for Flynn. I think I might put a little monster face on them similar to these at Mayhar Drygoods or embroider his name or something. I'm choosing a camo green color. I will probably make several pairs cause the pattern seems pretty easy. I found a free pattern too...yippie!

I'm going to make Flynn some of these cute little booties...free pattern here from Heather Bailey.
