May 2008

A lot has happened in the past 5 months. Wow!
The month of May will be a little ridiculous for me for the rest of my life event-wise. Mother's Day is one weekend, my birthday the next, then Flynn's birthday the next, which is also Memorial weekend. Ugh.

And, to add to it, the Canvas Show is right after that. I wasn't able to go cause it is also the weekend as a huge event that my new/old job puts together. This is the second show and the second pair of Van's I designed for the Canvas event.

I went back to an old job I had seven years ago, but now with more experience and a better title, etc. I started in March, the same day I fell and broke my wrist. hmmm...coincidence is it all? All I know, is it was all bad timing. I had and still have way too much on my plate. Time to say no.

Glorious new shoes

BCs green, originally uploaded by Knitterista.

I'm so loving my new St. Patrick's Day shoes. How cute are these. Yes, I love my pink, but am so into green right now too. I wore them yesterday and got so many complements. I picked these up at Dillards....they're BC brand. Of course Momma's got to have her shoes!

Self Portrait Tuesday 7

Went to take photos of the interiors of a historic abandoned building for a developer...a little creepy inside with no electricity for lights. I sat down on the lone staircase waiting for an associate while she was on the phone. I figured I'd do a little "artistic" photography while sitting there...hence the shoe shots....and if you're wondering where I found those - got them on ebay several years ago....love them!

All my loverly shoes..

...are all orgamanized now. I took a que from LJC and got busy a few weeks ago. I highly recommend. It is keeping me so together now. It turns out I have upwards towards 80 pair...yikes...who knew? I still have shoes strewn out every where, but at least they know their place. (Note: red hot 80's ankle boots at the bottom. I used to wear those like everyday. For sale soon.)

New Shoes - New Tattoo... I heart these new shoes - from Payless no less. Can you believe how cute these are? It looks like I took a tumble and got all crippled from the fall. I'm a good actress.

Canvas Show

My project last week was to start and finish embroidering these Vans for a new show this fall called Canvas. It's an auction featuring local artists/celebrities that decorate a pair of Van shoes and donate them to raise money for a charity. Wayne Coyne, of the Flaming Lips, is doing a pair too....I'm in good company I think. They are trying to get 100 pairs donated. So, I turned mine in in the nick of time on Saturday to Shoe Gypsy, who sponsored the shoes. The Girlies all did a pair and we will display ours together to promote the show. I'm really happy how they turned out...so cute. I kind of hope they don't sell so I can keep them.

I won! I won!

I won these awesome vintage Frye boots yesterday...hopefully will receive them before Christmas weekend. Love them! They better fit!

So, I had gotten these other "what I thought were" Frye boots for like $5 at Wall's Bargain Center...they are actually Dingo's and ended up being way to big to even fake wearing...not fun. I think they are men's boots. But, I'm just going to put those on ebay and try to make up for buying my new ones that I can now wear in comfort, I hope!

The Dingo's are really cool. They fit a friend of mine, but she wanted me to try to get some money from them instead of just giving them to her...what a sweetie...they are awfully cute though. I will post when I'm putting them up...they are probably a size 9 women's. Posted by Picasa

The Dingo ate my baby!

All my pretty new shoes...

yes, it is a bit extravagant...and I do feel guilty with the ol' buyers remorse, BUT...check it out. I got all of these shoes with the exception of 2 for $3.00. Yes, my pretties, I said $3.00 OR LESS. Can you believe it. I was doing a photo shoot for work last Friday in this podunk little town and at my exit there was a Wall's Bargain Center. I don't know if you have those in other states, but I was raised with them here in Oklahoma. It's a bit of a dig, but when you hunt, and sometimes you have to go often to catch the name brands, you can find some great buys...that are totally insane. Whenever you see a Wall's you have to stop...no matter what...and they are usually in the smaller towns.

(Look at my boy by the way checkin' out the goods.)

So, the week before I found two pairs of shoes (top right: Adidas and Nine West) which I thought were true finds at Ross Dress for Less. I hate going in that store, but make myself every now and then just so I don't miss anything. I had looked at those Nine West several months ago in the mall and didn't feel like paying $65 or up for them...I got each pair for $20...whoopie!

I put those to shame though with the Wall's score. I got some Frye and Camper style boots (Steve Madden's), which I was going to pay full price for anyway this fall. Those were actually $5 each. Then the other shoes are Rocket Dogs, Franco Sarto and some other brand I hadn't heard of but got 3 pairs of them...totally cool leathers. And, notice all but one are black...what's wrong with me?????? I bet I have 30 or more pair of shoes in my closet that are all the same color...black! I bought another pair of Rocket Dogs and a hot pair of Steve Madden patent leather ankle boots for deShan. So, I actually got 12 pairs of shoes this past week. That's crazy!!!

I've been looking for boots like this for scooter riding...These are perfect...I still can't believe I found them.

the Adidas and Nine West from Ross Dress for Less

They look a lot like Fleuvogs. I don't know how comfortable these will be, but they are hot and for $2.50, I couldn't leave them there. I could always sell them on ebay or something.

I had to try these on to give you the full affect...These are totally Betty.
